| Lyon- Old City |
Day 5- Up early to catch the TGV fast train to Paris, where we’ll arrive prior to the riders on the Champs Elysees. We’ll take in all the electric atmosphere of the last stage in this 3 week, over 3,500km grind which is the Tour de France. This stage is always prestigious, and the field will be cranking hard for the glory that goes along with a win on cycling’s most famous venue. If you decide to prolong your stay in the City of Lights for a few days, please let us know. We’ve lived here before and can offer many suggestions for seeing the famous sites or quaint places that most tourists don’t see. Farewell dinner tonight to end our unforgettable Tour de France experience. |

| Day 2- Stage 18 of the Tour comes into Mende this afternoon, and we’ll pick up the route in the reverse direction and find good viewing spots along the way to watch the riders pass by. There will be a great chance of a breakaway today as many of the riders will still be looking for Tour glory to add to their palmares (career accomplishments). Another group dinner tonight. Don’t forget to try some of the red wines from the famous northern Rhone Valley region where we are located. Day 3- Stage 19 of the Tour arrives in Le-Puy en Velay today, and our approach will be similar to that of yesterday. We’ll ride in the opposite direction of the route and then find a good viewing spot and picnic until the riders roll by. As was the case yesterday, this stage sets up will for a breakaway, so there should be some hard riding out front before the main peleton arrives. Back to the hotel for another superb group dinner. Day 4- Stage 20 is the 55km (34 mile) ITT (Individual Time Trial) around St. Etienne. We’ll have opportunities to do a few miles ourselves both before and perhaps even after today’s event. The ITT is often the most decisive discipline of the Tour, so if it comes down to the wire, this stage may well decide who is in yellow on the Champs Elysees tomorrow. Another group dinner before we say good-bye tomorrow to this lovely part of France. |
